At a net cost of about $20 or less depending on how you value the portal rewards and which membership you choose, I think this membership could easily pay for itself in savings on one good deal throughout the year. Last year it was a deal on iPads, then one on TV’s and a deal on Segway miniPros. While I don’t actually live near a club, I find that there is a holiday deal almost every year that is good enough to resell and it draws me into buying a membership - and it usually happens right after these special fall deals on memberships end.

Using the United portal and purchasing through Living Social, you can earn 10 miles per dollar on your purchase. In my opinion, the two best deals are through the United shopping portal for Living Social or through the Chase shopping portal for Groupon if you have the Freedom card.
